Jefferson Market Garden
Volunteers Wanted
Jefferson Market Garden is a New York treasure that depends upon volunteers in many roles for its daily operation. From tending to the plants and flowers to greeting visitors from around the world to helping at our community events, our volunteers are an integral part of the Garden.
Gate Greeters
Community involvement begins with our Gate Greeters, who welcome all visitors when the Garden is open.
The role of a Gate Greeter is to welcome visitors, answer questions about the Garden's history and plantings, collect voluntary donations, and to make sure the rules of the Garden are followed so all may enjoy this special New York City oasis.
Gardeners
A small, dedicated army of Volunteer Gardeners meets every Monday morning (weather permitting) to dig, plant, prune, and refresh plantings under the watchful eye of the Garden's chief horticulturist.
Our Volunteer Gardener program has reached capacity for the 2025 Season.
Community Events
Volunteers are often needed to assist at our community events throughout the season.
