Jefferson Market Garden

Sustainability

All Organic or Natural

Our feeding program utilizes compost teas and organic microbes for the trees.

We have instituted ongoing composting. Most green and wood waste is composted and re-introduced into the garden.

To reduce our carbon footprint, we have retired our gas powered lawnmower. We now employ a state-of-the-art electric mower.

When the Spring flowering bulbs are lifted following bloom, we make them available to the community to plant in their own gardens. Recycling at its best!

Many of our plantings are selected specifically to attract butterflies, bees and birds. For visiting birds, our koi pond and fountain provide hydration, and our birdhouses provide shelter.
